It's Summer time! School is out, camp in session and people are out enjoying the beautiful lakes Polk county has to offer. Come in for your camp physical if you haven't already. This is an important time to discuss water safety. Drowning is the second leading cause for unintentional deaths in children from ages 1-14. Measures that can be taken to prevent drowning including making sure pools are fenced in approprietly, everyone wears a life jacket and children always supervised. The use of Alcohol dramatically increases risk of drowning and fatal boating accidents. If you are going to drink DO NOT operate a boat or jet ski. Please enjoy all the natural splendor Polk county has to offer but give the pools and lakes the respect they deserve. Have a safe and healthy summer.
